In memory of my very good friend Peter Warwick.
Working for the charity "The New Waterloo Dispatch” in association with Waterloo 200 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo.
On the 18th June 1815 Napoleon was defeated by the combined British, Prussian and Netherlands armies. During the heat of the battle 2 imperial eagles were captured. Sergeant Ewart of the Scot Greys captured one from Napoleon’s Elite Imperial 45th infantry. The eagle now rests at the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum at Edinburgh Castle. With kind permission of the RSDG the eagle underwent multiple forensic 3D scanning.
In commemoration of the bicentenary year and to support the associated charities, a limited number of replicas were created from the scans for private collectors
Peter Hare led the team’s charitable efforts closely supported by his colleague and skilled craftsman Benedict Ryan.
The Waterloo Room at the East India Club in St. James square was the room where Major Henry Percy presented the Prince Regent with the captured eagles and pronounce Napoleon is defeated. The same room room was used 200-years later for a re-enactment and where Peter Hare and Benedict Ryan were introduced the Anne, The Princess Royal.
The late Peter Warwick receives the 3rd of the produced replicas alongside Gloriana at St Katherine docks.
The scan results were incredibly detailed
To ensure accuracy of weight, balance and texture fine casts were meticulously created
Cast and ready. The parade begins.
